Every Electrical System on Your Magic Valley Farm — Wired, Repaired & Permitted
Most electricians in Twin Falls won’t touch center pivots or 3-phase well pump panels. We built our business around them. Here’s what we handle on Magic Valley farms every week.
Center Pivot Irrigation Wiring — Twin Falls County
Zimmatic, Valley, Reinke, and T-L pivot electrical installation and repair. Control panel wiring, 3-phase power runs from field distribution boxes, motor starter replacement, and end-gun circuits. We’ve wired pivots from Shoshone Road South to Murtaugh. MVEC and Idaho Power service coordination on every job.
Well Pump Electrical & 3-Phase Panels
Single-phase and 3-phase well pump panels for irrigation, domestic, and livestock water. Submersible pump wiring, soft-start motor controls, pressure switch installation, and variable frequency drives. We understand Magic Valley irrigation depths and the motor loads that come with them.
Dairy Farm Electrical — Parlor & Barn
Milking parlor lighting and dimmer systems, milking machine motor circuits, bulk tank compressor wiring, vacuum pump panels, heat lamp circuits for calving barns, and GFCI protection. We’ve worked dairies from Buhl to the Gooding County line.
Grain Bin Aeration & Temperature Controls
Aeration fan wiring, bin temperature monitoring, level controls, and automated fill circuit installation. Padded motor starters and overload protection for long-season grain storage across Twin Falls, Cassia, and Minidoka counties.
Farm Shop & Outbuilding Electrical
200A and 400A subpanels for machine shops and equipment buildings. Single-phase and 3-phase outlets for welders and air compressors. Overhead LED lighting, heat tape wiring, and underground service runs up to a mile from the main farm panel.
Farm Generator & Transfer Switch Installation
Standby generator installation with automatic transfer switches for critical farm loads — well pumps, dairy equipment, grain drying, and freezer circuits. We coordinate with Cummins, Kohler, and Generac dealers across Magic Valley.

When Your Pivot Goes Down at 5 AM, You Need Someone Who Answers the Phone
We’ve gotten calls from farms on Shoshone Road South with a center pivot down and a crop in the ground at 5 AM. We understand what’s at stake — an acre-foot of water, an ET day, a heat event arriving. Agricultural emergencies go to the front of our dispatch queue. We stock common Zimmatic and Valley pivot parts in our service trucks so we’re not making two trips to Twin Falls Supply.
We work directly with Magic Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) for 3-phase service upgrades in Jerome County, Gooding County, and MVEC territory across Twin Falls County — and with Idaho Power for the rest of the Magic Valley service area. We know both utilities’ paperwork, both inspection processes, and both sets of requirements.
- Ag emergency calls prioritized 24/7 — real person, not an answering service
- MVEC and Idaho Power territory — we handle both utilities
- 3-phase work from 10HP to 500HP motor loads
- Zimmatic and Valley pivot parts stocked in service trucks
- Written estimate before work begins on any farm project
We Cover All of Magic Valley — MVEC and Idaho Power Territory

Farm Electrician Services in Magic Valley
Farm electrical work is different from house wiring. Loads are bigger, motors run for hours under heavy duty, equipment sits outside in dust, water and Idaho winters, and a failure in July can cost a crop. We build and repair farm systems for that reality across Twin Falls County and the rest of the Magic Valley.
Typical farm jobs we handle include new services for pivots and pump stations, motor and control troubleshooting, shop and barn wiring, grain handling, and dairy electrical. If your problem is a pivot that won’t run, start with our guide to center pivot electrical troubleshooting, or call (208) 719-5016 and talk to a person.
- Service entrances, meter bases and disconnects sized for farm loads
- Motor circuits, starters, VFDs and pump controls
- Shops, barns, dairy parlors and outbuildings
- Grain bin fans, heaters and augers
- Troubleshooting, repairs and emergency response
Irrigation Pump & Center Pivot Wiring
An irrigation system is usually two electrical problems: the pump station and the pivot. The pump panel feeds a large motor that has to start reliably without tripping, and the pivot runs a long span circuit through tower boxes, collector rings and end-gun controls in mud and weather.
We install and repair pump panels, starters and disconnects, run feeders to pivot points, and track down faults in tower boxes, collector rings and safety circuits. Where a variable frequency drive makes sense, we install it — see our page on VFD and pump motor controls. For full pivot work see center pivot irrigation electrician, and for domestic and stock wells see well pump electrician.
Three-Phase Power & Phase Converters for Farms
Large pumps, dryers and shop equipment run best on three-phase power. Where the utility has three-phase lines nearby, the usual route is a three-phase service from Idaho Power or your local co-op. Where it doesn’t, or the cost of bringing it in is too high, a phase converter or a VFD fed from single-phase power can run three-phase motors.
Which option fits depends on the motor sizes, how many run at once, how far you are from three-phase lines and what the utility quotes. We look at the loads, explain the trade-offs in plain language and give you a written estimate before any work starts.
- Rotary phase converters for shops and mixed equipment
- VFDs to run a single large pump motor from single-phase power
- New three-phase services coordinated with the utility
- Motor protection, overloads and proper grounding
Dairy, Barn & Shop Electrical
Dairies and livestock barns are wet, corrosive environments where wiring has to be built to last and kept safe for animals and workers. We wire milking parlors, barns, commodity sheds and shops with wiring methods and fittings suited to damp and corrosive locations, and we test for stray voltage on dairies when cows show signs of it.
See our dairy farm electrician page for parlor and barn work, and the shop and garage electrical page for farm shops and equipment buildings.
Grain Bins, Well Pumps & Outbuilding Power
Grain bins need fans, heaters and augers wired with proper disconnects and motor protection, and controls that work when you need to dry grain fast. Well pumps need the right wire size for the run and a pressure or level control that keeps the motor from short-cycling. Outbuildings need a feeder or subpanel sized for what you will actually run in them.

Idaho Power Service for Agricultural Accounts
New farm services and service upgrades involve the utility as well as the electrician. In general the process looks like this:
- Plan the load. We work out what the service has to carry — pumps, pivots, shops, dryers — and what size and type of service that needs.
- Utility application. The owner (or we, on your behalf) requests the new or upgraded service from the utility, which decides how it will serve the site and what it will charge for line extension, if any.
- Permit and installation. We pull the electrical permit and install the customer side: meter base, disconnects, panels and feeders, built to the utility’s requirements.
- Inspection and connection. After the electrical inspection passes, the utility sets the meter and energizes the service.
Some farms in the area are served by a co-op rather than Idaho Power — see MVEC vs Idaho Power and our walkthrough of the Idaho Power service upgrade process. Timelines and charges are set by the utility, so we confirm them for your site rather than guess.

Frequently Asked Questions — Farm Electrical in Twin Falls, Idaho
Who do I call when my center pivot won’t start in Twin Falls County?
Do you work in MVEC territory in Jerome and Gooding County?
What service size does a center pivot irrigation system need?
Can you wire a new pivot on freshly developed farm ground?
Can you bring three-phase power to my farm?
Three-phase service comes from the utility, so the first step is finding out whether three-phase lines are near your site and what the utility will charge to extend them. We handle the electrical side — load calculation, permit and the service equipment — and if three-phase isn’t practical we can install a phase converter or VFD instead.
Do you work on both pump panels and the pivot itself?
Yes. We work on the pump station (panel, starter or VFD, disconnects and motor circuit) and on the pivot (main panel, tower boxes, collector ring, safety circuit and end-gun controls).
Is a VFD worth it on an irrigation pump?
Often, but not always. A VFD gives soft starts, lets the pump match the demand and can run a three-phase motor from single-phase power. Whether it pays back depends on the pump, how the system is used and your power rates, so we look at the specific setup before recommending one.
Do farm buildings need an electrical permit?
Most new circuits, services, feeders and panels on a farm need a permit and inspection in Idaho, the same as other electrical work. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job.
How fast can you respond to a farm electrical problem in irrigation season?
Call (208) 719-5016. Agricultural emergencies are answered 24/7 and we prioritise down irrigation and livestock systems. Response time depends on where you are and what is already scheduled, so we’ll tell you honestly when we can be there.
